The Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) remains without a chief despite former head Prem Singh resigning nearly a month ago. The DPCC also does not have a treasurer. Dinesh Jain, who last held this post, was removed in June by the then DPCC head Prem Singh.

Senior party leaders said that this was the first time that the DPCC chief’s slot had been vacant for such a long spell. “Generally when a chief resigns or is moved out, the new head is appointed immediately so that party activities and programmes continue,” a  leader said.

While senior party leaders were non-committal on when the name of the new DPCC chief would be announced, they felt that in any case they would have to wait till after the forthcoming AICC meet here on August 21.
