BJP's call for "hindu unity" - self-serving or sacrificial?

When Shankaracharya is arrested, we hear all kind of appeals for hindu unity and the hindu tolerance being taken for granted etc from the BJP. But when dalits (religious or otherwise) are lynched or brutally murdered, you get a callous comment on the relative importance between a cow and a human. While appealing on behalf of  Shankaracharya, they say 80% hindus are taken for a ride (meaning dalits included in the count here!). If so, when a dalit is lynched, why is there no call for the same 80% hindus to get united to fight? This shows that all the talk by BJP on secular assault on 80% hindus etc is just bogus. They make use of the "80% hindus taken for a ride" clause only when their self-serving interests are in danger, and not to serve the people from discriminated and disadvantaged sections of hindus. The truth is, the secular Vs communal debate has lesser to do with religion and more to do with how BJP selectively invokes the "80% hindus taken for  a ride" clause. Has anyone ever seen a BJP supporter in favor of mandal commission or other such things, which are meant to help the exploited/disadvantaged sections of hindus? Why? Are these sections not hindus? In fact they comprise more 90% of hindus. That the BJP does not care and in fact opposes them, shows that the hindu unity call is self-serving call meant to cater selfish interests of certain sections of society and far from being sacrificial in nature.

There is a reason why ALL parties who aspire to stand for rights and justice, empowerment of backward and discriminated castes/sections of society so strongly oppose the BJP. It is not difficult to find the reason. The BJP screams "casteist!!" when anyone talks of empowerment and upliftment of  lower castes. The BJP cries "communalism!!" when anyone tries to ally the fears and insecurities of the minorities by some small re-affirming and re-assuring measures. If the USA takes up some measures for upliftment of Blacks, should we call it racist? But that is exactly what BJP is doing in its rhetoric.

Is mandal commission anti-hindu? What ever be the merits/demerits specific to mandal commission, in general, almost all the BJP supporters are against things like Mandal commission which are meant for upliftment of backward sections of hindus. If the BJP does not care about the most backward and discriminated among hindus, are they not, more "anti-hindu" (to use their own word) than any other party?

It makes more sense, relatively speaking, to say that it is the congress (whatever its other deficienes) that is uniting the nation of all shades and colors and sections - making them sit shoulder to shoulder in governance and policy making process. Because it is a party which has all sections of society in its rank and file. Look at haryana - they had CM aspirants from a Brahmin to Dalit to Jat and so on. If we are talking about true and positive unity, this is what it is - no section of society needs to feel threatened or be at a losing end (even while merit is given its due). On the other hand, a Unity merely meant to be misued to serve a selfish interests of a small section of society or unity based of common hatred towards a community based on religious affiliation is the last thing any moral being wants.
