The fate of 23 candidates in the fray in Faridabad Lok Saha constituency was sealed in the Electronic Voting Machines(EVMs) with no major untoward incident reported from any part of the constituency on Thursday.
Although the voting percentage was low in the early hours of polling in most booths, it picked up in the last hours. According to District Returning Officer Brijendra Singh Faridabad Lok Sabha constituency registered 55 percent polling.
He said the exact figure which may vary by one to two percentwill be known by late in the night when the polling parties return from poll duties. Prithla Assembly segment registered the maximum 60 percent polling, Hathin 59 percent. Polling in Ballabgarh was on the lower side at 48 percent,.
The Gujjar-dominated Anangpur village, the home to Congress nominee Avtar Singh Bhadana, saw several people gathered outside the polling booths-mostly singing pro-Congress songs.
In Tigaon area, considered the stronghold of both the Congress and independent candidate Yashpal Nagar, out of 1123 votes in booth number 109, 288 votes had polled till 11 p.m.
In NIT Faridabad area, a large number of people from different parties gathered outside Vidhya Niketan School where some Haryana Janhit Congress supporters complained against the presiding officer's partisan behaviour, a charge officer present, Dr Krishnan denied. " I asked for the identity card and some voters resorted to misbehavior", he told HT.
